Ray Sprague’s Christmas Tags

The holidays as an excuse for nonsense

Raymond A. Sprague was probably a thwarted novelist, but he channeled his creativity into other pastimes. Among them was honing the art of extremely silly cards, letters, and—a specialty—gift tags. Each year he would compose verse (?!) and often accompanying illustrations for some of his Christmas gifts. A few examples of these are below, with more to be added as found.
