Ray in Ritchfield Park

From preemie to Toddler
Images from a childhood album show Raymond Arthur Sprague from his birth in 1913, to about age 3 when his sister Ailsa was born. Family lore tells us that Ray was born as “a six month baby,” and several of the photos in this album are captioned with information that seems to bear this out (“Age 2 wks - Weight 4 3/4 lbs”). Contrast his baby pictures with those of his sister, who was a full-term baby, and it seems obvious that he was born prematurely. The family was likely living in Ritchfield Park, New Jersey, during these years.
